The Fish Team launches the Responsible Fishing Alliance

The Sustainable Food Lab Fish team publicly launched the Responsible Fishing Alliance at the European Business Summit in Brussels on March 15, 2007. The Fish Team's web pages are updated and have new resources including new information about the team's cooperation with the European Commission on Responsible Fishing Ecolabels, the team's project to build a responsible Fish Chain in Switzerland (French and German) and the Charter and Convention documents of the Responsible Fishing Alliance (English and French).

The Alliance currently has 11 member organizations and recently unveiled the packing company Multivac and the number 3 food service company in Europe, the Elior Group, as the latest members to join the group.

The Alliance brings together fishers' associations, public and private organizations and businesses with the aim to increase cooperation, environmental awareness and mutual understanding along the seafood value chain and distinguishes its work from other seafood initiatives such as the Marine Stewardship Council by focusing not on certifying but on business-to-business seafood trade.
